The Wale occurrence is located 45 kilometres east of the community of Dease Lake within the Stikine Ranges.

The Wale showing is situated within the northern Intermontane Belt and is underlain by upper Mississippian to Permian ultramafic rocks of the Cache Creek Complex. The nickel-iron alloy (awaruite) mineralization is hosted in a moderately serpentinized, fine-grained ultramafic that is bounded by the Nahlin and Eaglehead faults. The Eagle target, which was previously two separate targets known as Eagle and Head, measures 2.4 kilometres long and extends into the Polar property. Samples collected from 2011 to 2013 from the southeast Eagle trend had values for magnetically recoverable nickel that ranged from 0.021 per cent to 0.163 per cent and average 0.090 per cent (Assessment Report 34556).

In 2011, First Point Minerals conducted greenfield exploration on the Wale property, delineating the Eagle and Head target areas. In 2012, they conducted detailed mapping and sampling work, geophysical surveying, a 10-hole diamond drilling program over a 3.7 kilometre strike length on six drill sections, and bulk sampling. In 2013, they conducted 64 line-kilometres of ground magnetic surveys, detailed mapping and sampling within the Wale, Polar and Orca properties as well as the collection of large (300 kilogram) rock samples on the Wale and Orca properties.
